Cyber contacts are found through the internet, without really meeting the preson live, on the other hand a friend in the real world is made through 'traditional' methods in the real world. (You make friends in the real world by what you see and the personality of that friend, but on the internet there is no way of really finding out the true character of the other party)
A cyber pal can easily his or her identity as body language can't be seen and there's no physical or verbal contact with each other, the simplicity of hiding emotions and feelings leads to a high chance of deception. By contrast, friends in the real world cannot hide his or her identity, body language and expressions.
Positive effects of cyberpals
A person may draw out of his or her shell; a shy person might be more open and brave to share thoughts, feelings and problem as there isn't a need to see the person live.
Cyber contacts provide opprtunities for people to get to know others who share similiar intrests from all over the globe.
Negative effects
As it is very easy to hide identities, people can pretend to be someone who they're not. This may lead to gullible people getting cheated
To avoid being a victim of bad cyber pals
Avoid giving away personal information and pictures. Try as much not to meet up with the cyber pal live, without first dicussing with other trusted people who are sensible. If there really is a need to meet face to face, bring someone else along. When feeling uncomfortable in a chat room, leave immidiately.
Note: Use decernment to judge who's a good or bad cyberpal.
If you don't have a considerably good sense of judgement, only add people you know.
