17:57 ; Cyber pals
Cyber contacts are found through the internet, without really meeting the preson live, on the other hand a friend in the real world is made through 'traditional' methods in the real world. (You make friends in the real world by what you see and the personality of that friend, but on the internet there is no way of really finding out the true character of the other party)
A cyber pal can easily his or her identity as body language can't be seen and there's no physical or verbal contact with each other, the simplicity of hiding emotions and feelings leads to a high chance of deception. By contrast, friends in the real world cannot hide his or her identity, body language and expressions.

Positive effects of cyberpals
A person may draw out of his or her shell; a shy person might be more open and brave to share thoughts, feelings and problem as there isn't a need to see the person live.
Cyber contacts provide opprtunities for people to get to know others who share similiar intrests from all over the globe.

Negative effects
As it is very easy to hide identities, people can pretend to be someone who they're not. This may lead to gullible people getting cheated

To avoid being a victim of bad cyber pals
Avoid giving away personal information and pictures. Try as much not to meet up with the cyber pal live, without first dicussing with other trusted people who are sensible. If there really is a need to meet face to face, bring someone else along. When feeling uncomfortable in a chat room, leave immidiately.

Note: Use decernment to judge who's a good or bad cyberpal.
If you don't have a considerably good sense of judgement, only add people you know.

14:42 ; Cyber-bullying
Cyber-bullying is when the Internet, cell phones or other devices are used to send or post text or images intended to hurt or embarrass another person, or a situation when a child, tween or teen is repeatedly tormented, threatened , harrassed, humilated, embarrassed or otherwise targerted by anoher child, tween or teen using text messaging, email, instant messaging or any other typr of digital technology.

Cyberbullying can range from the form of an email continuingly being sent althugh the receiver has stated that they want no further contact with the sender and it may include threats, sexual, remarks, hate speech or ganging up against the victim by making them the subject of ridicule in forums, or posting false statements as fact, just to humilate the victim.

The cyber-bully may also publicly share the victims personal information on websites and forums. The bully may also use the victim's identity as their own to publish materials that will defame or ridicule the victim.
Cyber-bullies can also send threatening or harassing emails and or instant messages or spread gossip and get others to gang up against the victim.
Cyber-bullying that includes sexual remarks and threats is not the same as sexual harrassment as it does not need to have a sexual predator involved.

While cyber-bullying is for children under the age of 16, cyber-stalking or cyber-harrassment is for people aged 16 and up. They are similiar in the way they work.

The harmful effects of cyber-bullying
The victim will have lower self esteem, increased suicidal thoughts and other nagative emotional responses like depression, frustration, anger. The victim may also become a cyber-bully. The Victim may also start to avoid friends and social activities. The worst is when the victim comits suicide.

Why?
Cyber-bullying occurs because the bully want to destory the victim's life, either for revenge, for the fun of it, for entertaining, to vent anger or frustration and for social standing.

How to deal with cyber-bullying?
The victim should tell an adult or a trusted friend. Don't respond to any rude, offensive or mean email or text message. After an incident has occured, stay away from the phone and computer for a few days, to let everything settle down first. If things get out of hand, report the bullying to the host (chat host, web host, internet service provider/ mobile phone service provider) or the local police.

Many campaigns are carried out yearly to raise the awareness of cyber-bullying. Communities are also becoming anti-cyber-bullying, with schools, parents and police working hand in hand.

15:34 ; Summing up
Head knowlege is useless if it's not converted into heart knowledge - actions.
What's the point of knowing and not doing? It's worse than not even knowing.

We all know the textbook answers, we know all the G.R.A.C.E. values, what they mean and how we should apply them in our lives etc.. but if we don't actually DO it, what's the use? There isn't any.

We have to show what we know in our heads through our actions and words, what we do and what we say. That will mean living complete and meaningful lives.

May there be GRACE in everything that you do.
God bless =)

peace out

Truly, amazing GRACE comes from the only awesome one, God.

"For it is by GRACE you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do gppd works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
Ephesians 2:13

15:18 ; E is for Enthusiasm
Being Enthu is the opposite of being Emo.

Having enthusiasm in everything we do shows passion for that particular thing and it also shows we have a purpose in life, that we're not living meaningless lives.
Being enthusiastic does not mean we're too overly crazy or obsessed or whatever people may think, 'uncool', 'noobs', 'extra', 'dorks' and what nots.
It means we are actively involved in that activity and are willing to learn, share and contribute.

Enthusiasm is, in a way, a form of service. So we should first start in the classroom, where it's just you and your classmates. Next, spread it to the level. The whole school will follow suit. The community then to nation. The last and biggest step is the world. Gobal enthusiasm. haha(:

We have to change mindsets that enthusiasm is not cool at all and that's why people are not enthusiastic about most things, and are enthusiastic only about the things they like, the activities they enjoy doing.
Enthusiasm, really, is all about having a passionate heart that's willing to learn.

My class has an 'Enthu Comm'. The 6 of us created it during sec1 camp last year when we were, I can say, the most enthusiastic people in class, the noisiest as well. We spread enthusiasm. We find fun in almost everything we do so that it will be a happy process, even if it's not meant to be. This way, we have a tendency of performing better.

I believe in order to be enthusiastic, we have to first know what's the purpose of what we're doing, and then be proactive in it. Perhaps one of the reasons why so many PLites aren't very responsive and stuff during talks, sharings, 'boring' competitions etc..is because we think that if we're enthu people may think we're crazy and may even hate us, in a way. So, in order to change that, we cannot focus on what others think of us, but what we think is right to do. Soon, the tables may turn and when you're not enthu, people may think YOU're the crazy one

peace out

14:56 ; C is for commitment
A promise is a commitment.
A vow is a commitment.
An oath is a commitment.
A pact is a commitment.
A pledge is a commitment.
A bond is a commitment.
A convenant is a commitmen.
An assurance is a commitment.
An undertaking is a commitment.
A garantee is a commitment.

How many of these have we broken?
How many of these have we not stuck to?

I believe that in order to commit to something and follow through till the whole thing ends, we need loyalty, faithfulness, patience, dedication and responsibility.

When we say we are going to commit to something, we have to make sure we do, by all means, no matter what it takes.

Before we even commit to something or to do something, we have to first ask ourselves some very important questions that will affect the whole outcome of whatever we're commiting to.
"Do I have the capacity?"
"Do I have the time?"
"Do I have the ability, the resources, the strength..etc?"
"Will I give up half way?"
"Will I be responsible for whatever happens, both good and bad?"
And some others that are similiar to the above few mentioned.

If at least one of the answers is NO, we should seriously reconsider whether or not we can commit to that partiular thing because there's a high chance of failure to completion. It's not whether we WANT to or not, it's a matter of whether we CAN. Of course, with God we can do it, but sometimes if we really don't have the capacity, it's best we leave it to others wo can do a much better job than us.

Once we commit to something, we cannot back out and leave others to wipe our behinds or just sweep all the dust under the carpet. We need to see it to completion, just like how God, who has started a good work in us, will be faithful and will see it to completion. (Philippians 1:6)

14:34 ; A is for All-round Excellence
The brains and the bronze is what many strive for. To them, that's what All-round excellence means.
Nope siree. That's just 2 aspects of life. Intelligence, prizes and nothing else.
In fact, people who think that way aren't smart at all and they definitely won't have any treasure stored in heaven. Cos what they have is a worldly mindset and the world won't last.

To be excellent in everything we do, we have to always give our best, our 100% and lean not on our strength, but on the Lord's. Because with human power, we'll fail, but with Christ, all things are possible. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)

As PLites, I believe that it is not mandatory I must say, but it's the basic level that we should excell in these areas:
-Academics. Our studies. We should be consistant in our homework, projects etc.. and results most importantly. We should always strive to do better than previously.
-CCA. We cannot think of it as a burden, something extra to weigh us down. Cca helps us, they develop our character, in one way or another.
-Morals. We should always keep our morals and do what's right, even when we think no one's looking.
-Spiritual life. The key to leading a holy life is an intimate relationship with Jesus, our best friend. We have to constantly increase our spiritual status in Christ.
-Character. It is important to have friends that will influence you in a positive way because they determine our character and how we behave. With a good, virtous and upright character, almost everything will be in place and with that, we will go far.

Let's not strive not excell in only 1 or 2 aspects of life, but in everything

13:40 ; R is for Respect
Respect is something we all value and wish to have.

Respect for ourselves guides our morals; Respect for others guides our manners
-Laurence Sterne

If we wanna be respected, we have to first respect others because people will see our inner values, our true character and will find that we are worth their respect.

Self.
Don't rely on someone else for your happiness and self worth. Only you can be responsible for that. If you can't love and respect yourself - no one else can. Accept who you are - completely; the good and the bad - and make changes as YOU see fit (but of couse also fitting to GOD).
-Stacey Charter (adapted)

In alignment to my previous post on Godliness, we are created in His image and that we are "fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139:14), we are God's. We do not belong to ourselves, we belong to HIm. Therefore it is our duty and responsibility to respect ourselves and to take care of our body.

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body."
-1 Corrinthians 6:12

We are not to destroy our body or do anything that downgrades ourselves, morally and spiritually because for 1, we do not belong to ourselves and 2 we have to have self respect.

Others.
Do onto others what you would have them to do onto you. (Luke 6:31)
Love thy neighbour as yourself. (James 2:8)

We are also not to CHOOSE who we wanna respect and who we think doesn't deserves to be respected.
We are all equal, all children of God, hence we are to treat everyone with the same level of repect - the level we want back for ourselves.

But how do we define respect you may ask? Well to me, it's by just accepting a person for who he or she is. We shouldn't try to change them according to our likings, but instead, towards a more godly life.

13:06 ; G is for Godliness
Godliness

The first value of G.R.A.C.E.

We're humans so we can't be perfect but we're created in God's image, in His likeness. (Genesis 1:26) We are to be reflections of His glory. We cannot be exactly like God, but we have the ability to reflect His character in our words and actions through love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (the fruit of the spirit Galatians 5:22-23)
Knowing that we are made in the image of God, the supreme creator, and that we share many of His chracteristics, provides a solid basis of our self worth.

Even if we know that we're created in God's image, so what? We don't have to act like Him right? Wrong.
Leviticus 11:45 says "...therefore be holy, because I am holy."
We're called to be holy.
By that, it means we have to live lives pleasing not to man, but to God.

You may say that the school mission is "...who lives in favour with God and man."
But you see, if you do things that please people and not God, the people you're pleasing are not of God, so why bother pleasing them when you can please the one the matters, the one who cares, the one who's in Heaven looking down on us and watching our every need?

By living a life that's holy and pleasing to God, in other words a godly life, you'll attract the right people, not the crooked people of the world, but people who are too, living godly lives.

If you ask me what godly life is or how to lead a godly life, I believe our school creed says it all.

I would be true for there are those who trust me
I would be pure for there are those who care
I would be strong for there are those who suffer
I would be brave for there is much to dare.
I would be friend of all, the foe, the friendless
I would be giving and forget the gift
I would be humble for I know my weakness
I would look up and love and laugh and lift.
I would be prayful through each busy moment
I would be constantly in touch with God
I would be tuned to hear His slightest whisper
I would have faith to tread the path Christ trod.

After we have checked ourselves and yes, we'e leady godly lives, we have to next pass it on, spread the flame and influence others to do likewise - to lead godly lives as well.
Bad company corupts good character. It's useless to be the only holy one while the rest around you are so sucked into the world because in the end, you'll just be like them. Therefore, it is very important for us to have godly council.

peace out

11:35 ; GRACE in PL
Any and every PLite has to display the GRACE values in every aspect of their lives, whether or not anyone looking because God's always looking at us. (:

We shouldn't act GRACEfuly only when others are around because a person's true colours show only when no one's looking.

I believe that once we complete our education here in PL, the GRACE values will be a part of us and displaying them will be a natural thing, like a habit.

peace out,
